Beloved Teen Mom couple Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra invited In Touch into their St. Clair, Mich., home on Dec. 8 to talk about their rocky month apart — and Christmas joy, as Tyler returns home from pursuing acting in New Orleans. The newly reunited couple tell the new issue of In Touch, on newsstands now, there’s nowhere else they’d rather be.
“We were so used to being with each other every day,” says Catelynn. “Then he was gone for a month … it does get lonely.”
The strain of their separation showed in November when the duo — who have been together since the seventh grade and famously gave up their baby girl for adoption in 2009 — got into a Twitter fight so cryptic and heated, fans feared they might be over for good. “People were thinking a bunch of crazy stuff about us,” Catelynn, 20, says of the incident, during which Tyler, 21, tweeted about forgiveness.
“Tyler wanted to stay in New Orleans longer because he had some job possibilities lined up, but I was pushing him to come home for Thanksgiving,” explains Catelynn, who has been studying social work at Michigan’s Baker College. “Catelynn and I, we’re just a normal couple,” Tyler tells In Touch. “We’re not the perfect princess story; we get in arguments and we say things that we regret. We apologize and we move on.”
